Neighborhood Naturalists
Former Atkinson parents Em Scattaregia and Steve Hinkle took their sons, Adrian and Christopher, to nearby Mount Tabor Park before they could walk. As toddlers, they declined the ride in the stroller, preferring to make their way on their own, a slow process. Em introduced them to bird watching at three, and by fourteen they had identified 130 birds on Mount Tabor and 100 birds in their backyard.
